KDPOF will present “nGBASE-AU: New Multi-gigabit Glass Optical Fiber Automotive Ethernet Standard” at 2023 IEEE SA Ethernet & IP @ Automotive Technology Day (E&IP@ATD) from September 19 to 20, 2023 at Novotel São Paulo Jaragua Conventions in São Paulo, Brazil. We’re happy to invite you to our exclusive and brand-new multi-gigabit demo “Unveiling the Future of Automotive Optical Networks” with a traffic generator from AUKUA Systems. The setup will be available at scheduled sessions in a private meeting room. In order to book a free space for the demo presentation, please contact us beforehand or visit us onsite at stand 2.

Proof-of-Concept for Camera Interconnection

In their conference presentation “nGBASE-AU: A New Multi-Gigabit Glass Optical Fiber Automotive Ethernet Standard. PoC for Camera Interconnection” on 20 September from 16:00 to 16:30 BRT in the Auditorium, César Esteban and Luis Manuel Torres will describe and justify the approval and adoption of the new IEEE 802.3cz standard for multi-gigabit communications over glass optical fiber.

They will explain features of the nGBASE-AU specification with a focus on enabling high-speed and low-cost automotive solutions free of electromagnetic emissions. Typical use cases will also be addressed like cameras, radar, and sensors interconnection as well as high-resolution displays and vehicular network backbone support.

Benefits of the new nGBASE-AU key benefits include the support for multi-gigabit speeds 2.5, 5, 10, 25, and 50 Gbps per lane at operation temperatures from -40 ºC to 125 ºC. The link reach specified for 40 meters and accommodating up to 4 in-line connectors will be beneficial for other applications like buses and trucks. Finally, and thanks to the high-power available budget for the link, other components of the solution will be shown in particular bend-insensitive fiber and robust and affordable connectors.

The presentation will finish with a description of the results of a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) for camera interconnection done at a global OEM. The PoC emulates the interconnection of several high-resolution cameras with a central GPU as the typical ADAS application ideally suited for nGBASE-AU.

The 2023 IEEE SA Ethernet & IP @ Automotive Technology Day (E&IP@ATD) is the premier venue for automobile manufacturers, suppliers, semiconductor vendors, tool providers, engineers, scientists, educators, and the media to share groundbreaking ideas along with implementation strategies and applications related to Automotive Ethernet Systems. Attendees will receive and share information, and actively participate in the latest developments in shaping Automotive Ethernet into a globally deployed, volume car automotive network.
