Automotive Ethernet Congress: KDPOF Will Display Gigabit Ethernet POF for Electric Cars

On January 30 to 31, 2018, KDPOF will present their innovative GEPOF technology at the Automotive Ethernet Congress in Munich, Germany. KDPOF’s optical connectivity technology ideally meets electrical challenges of new powertrain architectures. Electric and Hybrid power trains present different voltage domains with big level differences, such as the ECU domain with 12 Volts, the actuators domain with 48 Volts, and the electric power domain with 400 Volts. The galvanic isolation between these domains is a must due to ground parasitic resistance and potential shorts between voltage domains. Optical connections with POF provide the optimal means to achieve galvanic isolation while realizing data communications at the same time. KDPOF recently announced the sampling of the first automotive grade Gigabit Ethernet POF transceiver KD1053. The KD1053 complies with the new IEEE standard amendment Std 802.3bv™ for Gigabit Ethernet over POF. It fully meets the requirements of carmakers by providing high connectivity with a flexible digital host interface, low latency, low jitter, and low linking time.

We look forward to meeting you in Munich. For arranging a meeting, please contact Óscar Ciordia at sales@kdpof.com.
