Automotive Gigabit Connectivity by KDPOF

Automotive Gigabit Connectivity by KDPOF

KDPOF will display their innovative Gigabit connectivity networking technology at the upcoming Automobil Elektronik Kongress in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on June 27-28, 2017. With the recently announced sampling in 2017 of the first automotive Gigabit Ethernet POF (GEPOF) transceiver, we perfectly meet the requirements of carmakers by providing high connectivity with a flexible digital host interface, low latency, low jitter, and low linking time. The transceiver is optimized for low power and small footprint and transmits data at 1000/100 Mbps on standard SI-POF, MC-POF, or PCS, according to 1000BASE-RH (IEEE 802.3bv). Recently, IEEE has published an amendment to the IEEE 802.3™ standard, IEEE Std 802.3bv™ for gigabit Ethernet over POF defining physical layer specifications and management parameters for automotive, industrial, and home networking applications utilizing POF.

We look forward to meeting you in Ludwigsburg. For arranging a meeting, please contact Óscar Ciordia at sales@kdpof.com.

IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, and the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), today announced the publication of IEEE 802.3bv™—Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for 1000 Mb/s Operation Over Plastic Optical Fiber. The IEEE 802.3bv standard amendment responds to demand for high-speed Ethernet solutions for automotive, industrial, and home network connectivity. Plastic optical fiber provides unique capabilities for these applications where long link lengths aren’t required. Increasingly, automotive and industrial networks are migrating towards Ethernet. Plastic optical fiber is already in use in automobiles and other vehicles, and IEEE 802.3bv provides a robust and reliable media option for Ethernet automotive networks. As an alternative transmission medium, the standard is also applicable to harsh, electrically noisy environments such as industrial automation islands and other applications with similar requirements.

Optical Gigabit Ethernet Becomes IEEE Standard

KDPOF provides Gigabit Ethernet over POF connectivity according to the IEEE 802.3bvTM Specification

KDPOF – leading supplier for automotive gigabit connectivity over POF (Plastic Optical Fiber) – welcomes IEEE’s publication of the new standard amendment for 1000 Mb/s Ethernet operation over plastic optical fiber. As an amendment to the IEEE 802.3™ standard, IEEE Std 802.3bvTM for gigabit Ethernet over POF defines physical layer specifications and management parameters for automotive, industrial, and home networking applications utilizing POF. “Increasingly, automotive and industrial networks are migrating towards Ethernet,” stated Bob Grow, chair, IEEE P802.3bv Gigabit Ethernet Over Plastic Optical Fiber Task Force. “With POF already in use in automobiles and other vehicles, IEEE 802.3bv provides a robust and reliable media option for Ethernet automotive networks.”

Live Demonstration of Optical networking solutions for the World’s Top Automotive Brands

MADRID, Jan. 16, 2017  — At the upcoming Automotive Ethernet Congress on February 7 to 8, 2017 in Munich, Germany, KDPOF CEO Carlos Pardo will present “Optical Ethernet in Automotive. Already a Reality.” In the exhibition area, KDPOF will display their latest solutions on Gigabit Plastic Optical Fiber (POF). Highlights include the GEPOF (Gigabit Ethernet over POF) Automotive Kit for technology evaluation. The kit is self-contained and includes all necessary components to set up and test 100 and 1000 Mbps links over POF. It is based on KDPOF’s SFP-POF electronic board, which allows versatile, auto-grade Lab measurements at extreme operating temperature, radiation and voltage corners.

You are welcome to visit our exhibit and learn more about our automotive optical Ethernet highlights. We look forward to meeting you there.
